DAMAR BATU
Damar Batu is a natural resin obtained through collection of the hardened resin exudates lying below the ground in fossilized form.
Damar Batu is derived from ancient shorean trees grown in the Indonesian forests. It looks like stone and is much harder than other resins. It is available in white/light yellow, brownish and black colors.
Owing to its fragrance it is used for making Incense Sticks (Agarbathi), Sambrani and other fragrant items used in prayers by all religions. It is also used for making Varnish, Polish, Ink, Water Resistant Coatings, Injection Moulding Materials and also as a Natural Mosquito Repellent. It is traditionally applied by fishers as Wood Boat Putty. In eastern part of India, it is scraped and directly burnt during prayers.
